Alumna Professor Georgina Long AO, Australian of the Year 2024, and from the Santa Sabina College’s Class of 1988 was our Guest of Honour at Speech Night 2024 in Sydney’s State Theatre. Professor Long is Co-Medical Director of Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA) and Chair of Melanoma Medical Oncology and Translational Research at MIA and Royal North Shore Hospital.
In recognition of her ground-breaking research and work, Professor Long was named 2024 Joint Australian of the Year and was awarded Fellowship wth the Australian Academy of Science, both in 2024.
In 2023, Professor Long applied all her expertise in medical oncology to create a novel approach to treating glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer.
