Head of Religious Education (Y6-12)

Permanent – Full Time Commencing in Term 1, 2019

Santa Sabina College, a P-12 Catholic School in the Dominican tradition, educates students to achieve personal excellence, to act with justice and compassion, and to embrace the future with an optimistic global vision.

The College is seeking an experienced and passionate professional to lead the Religious Education Team Years 6-12. The successful candidate will:

  • support the Catholic Dominican Mission of the College
  • demonstrate evidence of engagement in the broader Religious Education learning community
  • will work closely with the Head of Mission and Identity and the Primary Religious Education Coordinator to promote the religious and spiritual life of the College
  • demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to mentor, guide and advise staff and students
  • demonstrate skills and capabilities required to respond strategically to contemporary research, trends and initiatives that support the implementation of best practice
  • be a strategic thinker who collaborates with other Heads of Department in the leadership of student-centred and intellectually dynamic practice
  • facilitates a dynamic and innovative approach to the teaching of Religious Education
  • be an exemplary classroom teacher who is aspirational and inspirational
  • lead in the development, implementation and evaluation of Religious Education Policies and Programs for Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting across Years 6-12
  • lead the Religious Education department, including professional learning opportunities
  • promote the prayer life of the College and help lead the social justice imperatives

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme experience would be advantageous.

Mathematics Teacher (Y6-12) 

Permanent – Full Time Commencing in Term 1, 2019

The College is seeking to appoint a Mathematics Teacher to join our highly successful Mathematics Department. The successful applicant will:

  • support the Catholic Dominican Mission of the College
  • be an exemplary classroom teacher who is aspirational and inspirational
  • demonstrate a sound knowledge of recent developments in Mathematics, including the NESA syllabus, assessment and reporting requirements
  • have the ability to drive academic achievement whilst supporting a diverse range of learners
  • demonstrate an understanding of the use of technology to transform learning
  • collaborate constructively with colleagues to enhance educational outcomes
  • support and enhance student-centred approaches to the holistic care of students
  • have the ability to teach students from Years 6-12, including Stage 6 experience
  • actively participate and contribute to the broader life of the College, including pastoral care, co-curricular and outdoor education

Science Teacher (Y6-12)

  • have the ability to drive academic achievement whilst supporting a diverse range of learners

  • actively participate and contribute to the broader life of the College, including pastoral care, co-curricular and outdoor education

Outdoor Education Manager – Tallong Campus

Santa Sabina College is looking for quality teachers to join our Relief Teacher Register (Secondary). 
 
Essential Selection Criteria:
The successful applicants will need to demonstrate the following:
  • Commitment to supporting the Catholic Dominican ethos.  
  • Highly effective teaching skills and a clear understanding of modern pedagogical practices
  • An ability to build strong working relationships with staff and students and work effectively as part of a team
  • Successful use of IT to engage students
  • High order skills in planning and organisation.

Children’s Services Traineeship (12 month appointment)

Santa Sabina College operates an early education centre (for children under 5 years) and an out of school hours care centre (for children between 5-12 years) and is offering traineeships in both services. Applicants must be eligible for enrolment in either the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or Certificate IV in School Aged Education and Care.

Desirable skills include: experience with children, demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others, well-established written and verbal communication skills, initiative and motivation to learn.

Applicants are also expected to have an understanding of, and commitment to, the Dominican ethos of the College. The College Application Form must be completed and attached.
