In 2023 we were proud to launch a new and exciting co-curricular activity – Santa Style – an award-winning student-led ethical social enterprise initiative which integrates community and sustainability.
To disrupt the cycle of fast fashion students designed a profitable online business start-up. Santa Style in 2023 rescued 500 items (75kg) of donated clothing through its e-commerce platform. Santa Style was the ONLY Australian awardee to win a $5000 grant from the IB Global Youth Action Fund in acknowledgment of this project’s contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The award allowed Santa Style students to be mentored by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Youth. This project enjoyed Australian national recognition by The Educator magazine for sustainability. Santa Style students were invited by the University of Technology, Sydney to deliver a keynote presentation to 3000 NSW students at the 2023 UTS Start-Ups Conference. This recognition of change making success resulted in mentorship projects with students from other Sydney schools.
