Santa Sabina College is proud to announce that College Principal, Ms Paulina Skerman has been shortlisted as Principal of the Year in the Australian Education Awards 2023. This prestigious award recognises Ms Skerman’s exceptional leadership and the impact she has made to all facets of our community since her appointment four years ago.

Paulina Skerman leads our College community with optimism and an unwavering commitment to the education, care and wellbeing of all members of the College community.  Despite all of the challenges faced in recent years, she has led with distinction and under her visionary approach our College is flourishing with student enrolments increasing and exceptional academic results seeing our school maintain its standing in the top 50 NSW schools while also growing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Key to the school’s academic success is the attraction and retention of exceptional staff. Importantly, creating an environment where everyone belongs and feels valued is a key feature of Paulina’s leadership.

Paulina’s commitment to student wellbeing is recognised through our purposeful, data driven and strongly supported ‘Santa Strong’ wellbeing program that prioritises relationships as a key factor in building a healthy community where children can learn effectively. Paulina is dedicated to nurturing young people to be world-ready, articulate and intelligent with courageous hearts, who are confident and strong enough to lead a better world.

Paulina recognises the need to engage in conversations with the intent to listen and to build unity. The podcast series Santa Dialogues is just one initiative of many that she has created to actively support parents in understanding their children and strengthening relationships. The series shares advice from experts and insights from students and staff in discussion with Paulina.

Her commitment to an education that develops the whole person has seen her further strengthen our extensive co-curricular program to engage our students, keeping them active, healthy, stimulated and engaged.

Our community congratulates Paulina on undertaking to create an educational environment where every student thrives. This award recognises her belief that wellbeing is the foundation from which young people can achieve academic and personal success.
