Art trifecta

The artworks of students from across the years have been selected for awards and display in national and international competitions. Ava Anderson of Year 6 won her age category of the #SeaToSource Sea The Change Competition with her work, ‘Not the Orca’ (below left).

Ella Hodge of Year 11 won the Secondary School section of the Ocean Lovers’ Festival Litterarty art competition. Her artwork, ‘Could Mermaids Exist’ (pictured below right), explores the imaginative and magical nature of our ocean’s ecosystems. while also increasing awareness of climate change and marine plastic pollution.’

Kavitha Varatharajan of Year 10 was named a semi-finalist in the international Science Without Borders Challenge thanks to her stunning watercolour (pictured above) highlighting the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. Her work stood out from the 1200 entries from around the world this year. ‘We need the Hawaiian ecosystem’s guardian to continue to protect its fragile balance and ensure the survival of many other species’, says Kavitha.
