In this final Principal’s Updates for 2018, I wish to thank the whole Santa Sabina College community for their enormous generosity and support throughout the year. The spirit of the community has been so evident in all of our major events this term – Sports Awards, Celebration of Music, Speech Night and Speech Day, the Advent Festival of Readings and Carols – concluding with Santa’s Community Carols at Del Monte on Wednesday night. What a joyous celebration for our children, our staff and our parents. Thank you to the Music Department for leading this and again to our generous P&F for supporting us on yet another occasion. We celebrated the end of the school year for Del Monte students with a beautiful Mass yesterday, and will do so with Years 6-11 students today.

While “school’s out” for students today, we have a number of “beyond school” activities taking place. Our best wishes are extended to our Volleyball players for their forthcoming trip to Melbourne this weekend to participate in the Australian Schools’ Volleyball Championships. Senior Japanese students are enjoying their time in Japan attending school, and staying with host families. You can follow their trip on their blog that they’ve created on the College website. A group of students are also attending the Senior NASA Space Camp before Christmas, so we look forward to hearing more at the beginning of the new year. Thank you to the students attending training at Tallong to become Outdoor Education Leaders. That is a wonderful example of service to the community.

Our HSC graduates will receive their results next Thursday, 13 December, and their ATARs the following day. There will be a morning tea for all of our graduates on Friday morning and many teachers will be present to congratulate them.

To our families who are leaving Santa Sabina College this year, our prayers and very best wishes go with you. We hope that 2019 is a blessed one for you. To our families returning next year, we have a most significant year to celebrate – our 125th anniversary. We will begin those celebrations with a Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral, presided over by Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP.

To every member of our community, I wish all the joy and blessings of the Christmas season. May you have a happy, holy and family-focused Christmas celebration.
