Hooray for Hip Hop – a win in the Ultimate Dance Challenge

On Sunday 29 July the entire Santa Sabina College Dance team attended the Ultimate Dance Challenge at Pacific Hills Christian School. Each of the teams performed extremely well with very strong results across the day. 

The Infants dance team performed first, with many of our students performing on the stage for the first time. The judges were wowed by the team’s acrobatic moves, big smiles and energetic performance. The girls scored a huge 164/200.

The Primary Jazz team performed next in the same category. Performing a Greatest Showman themed routine they were commended for their high level of energy and well-executed lifts. The team won a Highly Commended award with a strong score of 171.5/200.

The Senior Jazz team were the first team to perform for Santa Sabina College in the senior dance team category. The team are to be congratulated for their sharp moves and excellent extension. The team won a Highly Commended award scoring 174/200. 

The Senior Contemporary team performed in a very strong lyrical/contemporary category. They were congratulated by the judges for their smooth transitions and patterns within their formations. The girls scored 170.5/200 earning them a Highly Commended award.  

The Senior Hip Hop team presented a strong and united routine. The team performed with incredible energy from start to finish and were on point with their spacing and timing. The girls scored 186/200 earning an outstanding and well deserved first place. 

The Senior Tap team performed in the final category of the day tap/musical theatre. This was the team’s first Eisteddfod performance. The girls demonstrated excellent tapping technique and timing in their cannons. The girls won third place with a score of 173/200. 

Santa Sabina College would like to congratulate all teams for their outstanding effort and achievements at The Ultimate Dance Challenge. We would also like to thank all parents and families who attended to support our teams. We wish our primary teams the best of luck as they compete on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 August.
