Congratulations Bella Merlino of Year 7 who has won Best Junior Film at the REELise Film Festival over the weekend.
Bella’s film, Dear Brother… is the story of a loving sister whose family is torn apart when her brother becomes the victim of cyberbullying. As part of her prize Bella won for Santa Sabina College a full day experience for 32 primary students to attend a film studio.
This is the second year in a row that Bella has won at REELise. In 2016 her winning film, Sticks and Stones, also addressed the problem of bullying. Bella’s research for both films included asking friends and family members about their experiences with bullying.
“I had to do a lot of research because at Santa Sabina I haven’t met anyone in the school who’s been bullied, which is a good sign”, Bella said.
