Community Day

‘It’s a small big world’ was the theme for Community Day 2014. A celebration of our cultural diversity, our growing sense of International Mindedness and our connection to the arts (Music and Literature) was captured and experienced by all! The piazza, an array of colour of international flags, globes, lanterns, portraits and international landmarks set the backdrop for a memorable day.

We participated in workshops facilitated by author Aaron Blabey and Musica Viva entertained and engaged all participants. We connected with our Dominican heritage and wider Dominican community as we listened to and were inspired by the experiences of our Solomon Island Guest Speakers; Dominique and Isabel Marturia, Sr Mary Clare Holland, and Sr Elizabeth Landon.

It was a wonderful opportunity for family members of all generations to share their Cultural Stories. Indeed, the inaugural International Food Buffet was a highlight of the day. The dedication and commitment of the parents to provide a delicious selection of food was appreciated and enjoyed by all.

‘We all felt a strong sense of community spirit.’
