Five outstanding Australians including Mrs Patricia Burke from our own community have been conferred with Papal Honours. Mrs Burke is an ex-student of Santa Sabina, a former College Board member, a key supporter in shaping the existence of Mary Bailey House and a strong advocate of education for justice for students and the Church over the years. Her daughters all attended Santa Sabina.
At a ceremony held at Cathedral House last week, the selfless and important contributions of Mrs Burke were acknowledged as she received her award from the Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell. Mrs Burke was created a Dame Commander of the Order of St Gregory.
