Yr 4 CSIRO Incursion

Skeletons, Lungs, the Taste Test and all Matters Scientific

There was much excitement for Year 4 students last week as the CSIRO came to Del Monte with a range of wonderful activities and experiments through which the children were able to learn about their bodies. Quotes from our prospective scientists attest to Year 4’s enthusiasm and engagement:
‘This incursion was very fascinating as I learnt many new facts about the human body. Such as how your mind can be tricked, how you can find your pulse and how many cubic centimeters fit inside your lungs,’ explained  James Khoury. Stephanie Gregory added:
‘Last Friday a CSIRO scientist came to our school and helped us with how to look after our bodies.  It was magnificent!  I enjoyed the taste bud activity, when we tasted four papers and worked out which were spicy, bitter or sweet.  I really liked this incursion.’
