Earth Hour

Earth Hour, the phenomenon that was started in Australia and embraced by the world, is returning at 8.30pm on Saturday 23rd March. Earth Hour is a gathering of the global community to show what one simple idea can achieve, and what one person’s actions can inspire. It is much more than a symbolic action of switching off lights for an hour; it’s a continuous movement driving real actions. This Earth Hour, we are also being encouraged to switch our homes to clean, renewable energy and they are looking for people to pledge their commitment to solar power or green power on the Earth Hour website, to prove that it is not just about losing an hour of power but a shift in our thinking. See the Earth Hour website for more details (earthhour.org.au) and please get your families involved on Saturday night.

Here at Santa, we will have our version of Earth Hour on Friday afternoon this week and we will be encouraging everyone to do their part. P6 and P7 are planned as a low energy afternoon. This means limiting the use of electricity in the classroom and doing without fans and lights if appropriate and/or doing without the smart board or computers.
