Tallong Open Day

Met by the aroma of freshly-baked scones, so good that they should be patented, families began their day with the staff of the Tallong campus. Short tours of the facilities their sons and daughters will be sleeping in when they attend upcoming camps were conducted. With everyone assembled and appetites surfeited, the party made their way to the new High Ropes course for its official opening. Mr Paul Holmes, Tallong campus director, began proceedings with an acknowledgment to Country. Dr Maree Herrett, College Principal, in relating an anecdote of her own experience as a participant in an Outdoor Education program spoke of her understanding of the important place such a program can play in the development of a student’s character. Special guest, Senator Ursula Stephens, expressed a belief in the value of such experiences for the young person. Following a delicious lunch that opportunity was given to them. Several hours followed of children and their parents scaling the heights of the new course under the care of the Tallong staff and Outdoor Education student leaders from the Secondary school.
