Secondary students return

Returning to school with energy and spirit from the summer months, the secondary students were warmly welcomed back to school today at the opening assembly.

In her address to students, new College Principal Dr Maree Herrett reminisced fondly about her time at the college as a student and teacher and described her excitement at now being Principal of the school; the place where strong academic and social justice values were instilled in her.

Through “connect for the future,” Dr Herrett hopes the girls will actively engage with the world around them. She encouraged the girls to embrace the South African philosophy of Ubuntu: “I am what I am because of who we all are.” Not just being individuals separated from one another but being connected; where doing well spreads out and is for the whole community.  Dr Herrett looks forward to the year ahead and working with the students with great optimism.
