We Stand for Refugees #SSC4Refugees

This National Refugee Week, Santa Sabina College raises its voice in support of the millions worldwide who are voiceless. UNHCR research points to 19.5 million refugees, 10 million stateless persons and 59.5 million displaced persons.

In taking up the theme of Refugee Week, the College urges all Australians to apply the words from our National Anthem: ‘With courage let us all combine’ in how they think about and act on behalf of all refugees and displaced persons.

Become a voice for the voiceless:
  • contact your local MP and comment on Australia’s policies that subject refugees to a lifetime of imprisonment in third party countries
  • support the Refugee Council of Australia by getting involved in their initiatives: http://www.refugeecouncil.org.au/take-action/
  • spread #SSC4Refugees throughout all of your social media forums and don’t be afraid to challenge those who oppose the processes of natural justice that those forced to flee their homes are denied
  • give thanks for being in this country of freedom, peace and opportunity. Then be willing to share the opportunity you have received with others.
