Our Years 3-6 VEX IQ Robotics students have achieved outstanding success at their first VEX IQ Robotics Competition, with one team taking home the prestigious Inspire Award at Trinity Grammar on Wednesday 29 July.
The Inspire Award is the highest recognition presented at many VEX IQ events and celebrates teams that embody the values of the program through exceptional teamwork, positivity, perseverance and enthusiasm. The award reflects not only technical achievement but also the spirit and character students demonstrate throughout the competition day.
The competition marked an exciting milestone for our young robotics enthusiasts, who proudly represented the College while testing their engineering, coding and problem-solving skills against teams from a range of schools. Throughout the day, students participated in eight teamwork matches, three skills challenges and a judges’ interview, confidently showcasing the knowledge and capabilities they have developed through the VEX IQ Robotics program.
VEX IQ Robotics is a globally recognised STEM program that challenges students to design, build and program robots using motors, sensors, gears and coding. Through our weekly training sessions, students refine their robot designs, test solutions and prepare for competition, developing valuable skills in engineering, computational thinking, collaboration and resilience.
For many of our students, one of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to connect with peers from other schools. By sharing ideas, strategies and solutions, students experienced firsthand the collaborative nature of STEM learning while competing in a supportive and encouraging environment.
The competition provided an authentic and engaging learning experience that challenged students to think critically, adapt quickly and work effectively as a team. Their dedication, sportsmanship and determination were evident throughout the day, making the Inspire Award a well-deserved recognition of their efforts.
