Outdoor Education at Its Best: Inside Tallong’s Open Day

Our Tallong Open Day in February 2026 offered families an inspiring look into the exceptional outdoor education opportunities that set Santa Sabina College apart as one of the top independent schools in Sydney. Visitors explored the facilities and warm hospitality of our Southern Highlands Campus, discovering firsthand the vital role Tallong plays in our rich, diverse experiential learning program.

Guided by expert outdoor education facilitators, families spent a full day immersed in the bush, taking part in hands‑on adventure experiences. Activities included high ropes, low ropes challenges, mountain bike riding, and of course, the much‑loved meals prepared by our renowned campus chef, Cheffrey.

For 28 years, our Tallong Campus has been a cherished extension of our Strathfield learning environment, supporting carefully sequenced outdoor programs for students from Year 2 onwards. In 2026 alone, Tallong is set to welcome 28 client schools, host more than 11,000 participant days, and serve over 40,000 meals, underscoring its reputation as a premier outdoor education centre in NSW.

At Tallong, students engage in reflective and adventure‑based activities designed to complement their academic learning. These programs build resilience, leadership, independence, teamwork and environmental stewardship – qualities that contribute to the well-rounded education Santa Sabina is known for among families seeking a leading independent school that prioritises both academic success and personal growth.

Whether navigating a ropes course, discovering new strengths, or forming meaningful connections with peers, every Tallong experience contributes to deeper self‑discovery and lifelong confidence.
