The Truth and Lies between Love and Hate

Preethika Mathan of Year 8 was interviewed on national radio on 18 September speaking about her award-winning essay, and living with autism in the family. Preethika’s message to us all is that with the right support, disability doesn’t have to be a disadvantage.

Preethika’s essay, ‘The Truth and Lies between Love and Hate’, won the non-fiction category of the John Marsden and Hachette Australia Prize for Young Writers. Aged only 13, Preethika won the 12-18 years category and was presented with the award by acclaimed author John Marsden at the Melbourne Writers Festival.
