Twelve exceptional works created by Santa Sabina students have been nominated for HSC showcases! Congratulations to our students of Visual Art, Design and Technology and especially Textiles and Design whose major projects have caught the eye of the NSW Education Standards Authority.
Emma Jacobs’ Major Textiles Project (MTP), a contemporary kimono-style dress, has been selected for inclusion in Texstyle, the annual exhibition of Outstanding MTPs developed by HSC Textiles and Design students from across NSW. Emma’s design in the category of special occasion wear was inspired by the traditional Japanese formal attire. According to Emma, the elegant garment is in shades of blue in reference to the colours of Mt Fuji and The Great Wave painting by Hokusai.
“It is also paired with other cultural elements such as Sashiko Embroidery and Origami”, Emma says.
Emma’s design will be on display at the Into Craft Live Show at Rosehill Racecourse in March 2018. It has also been nominated for the Shape exhibition, along with the works of eight Santa Sabina Design and Technology students: Clare Banzon, Brittney Beynon, Hannah Hill-Wade, Bernadette Macaraniag, Emily Muirhead, Anna Nowlan, Sarah Shore, and Olivia Thomson.
The D&T designs include furniture, architecture and a range of dazzling light fittings.
Three works from HSC Visual Art students are being considered for inclusion in ARTEXPRESS 2018. The stunning artworks “Hairy Antoinette” by Angeline Khoury, “Thou Shalt not Peeve” by Sarah Shore and “How I learned to stop worrying & love the bomb” by Lauren Vicario have been held back by NESA as nominations.
ARTEXPRESS, Shape and Texstyle are all exhibitions staged by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA, formerly known as BOSTES) to showcase exceptional HSC creative work.
